Percussionist/composer/vocalist Mike Pride was born and raised in the Portland, Maine area. He moved to New York City in the year 2000 where he began studying regularly with the legendary percussionist/healer/teacher, Professor, Milford Graves.

Mike has performed and recorded throughout the U.S. and North America, Europe, Asia, & Australia with many wonderful musicians including:

David Baker, Anthony Braxton, Dynamite Club, Califone, Daniel Carter, Eugene Chadbourne, Trevor Dunn (of Mr. Bungle), Michael Formanek, Milford Graves, Briggan Krauss, Frank Lowe, punk-rock icons MDC (Millions Of Dead Cops), Tony Malaby, Sabir Mateen, Butch Morris, Paul Oldham (from Palace Brothers), William Parker, Perry Robinson, Sam2 (from Yokohama's DO THANK ANAL), Sonny Simmons, Chris Speed, Cuong Vu, Matthew Welch & Jack Wright. He has also recorded for John Zorn and toured with RUINS (Yoshida Tatsuya).

Mike is currently involved in many projects and leads/composes for many ensembles ranging from hardcore thrash to country & western music, & minimalist improv to blow-out noise-rock.

Mike also currently runs FUNHOLE RECORDS/RECORDING STUDIOS in Brooklyn, NY, and is an active painter, cartoonist, writer & photographer.
